View the spectacular sight of the 100,000 LED lanterns floating downstream at this year’s Firefly festival in Tokyo.

During the Tokyo Hotaru (Firefly) festival last week, Panasonic floated 100,000 solar powered LED lanterns down the Sumida River as part of the Hikari no Symphony (Symphony of Light). The sight of thousands of these blue orbs with Tokyo’s new Sky Tree tower lit up in the background is very impressive, as can be seen in the photo above or the embedded video and images below. After the ceremony, all the lanterns were scooped up downstream for re-use.
