Benoit Paillé’s Alternative Landscapes is an interesting series of ‘scapes centred around a single man-made element.
These interesting long exposure landscapes were taken by Canadian photographer Benoit Paillé.
“I was interested in the introduction of a man-made object in an outdoor setting, a luminous square, a human element that forms a relationship with nature and helps it to be reborn. From this I feel a kind of poetry blossoms, linked to the presence of this regular shape, like a recurrent canvas that symbolically references creation, the blank page, the empty space that needs to be inhabited.”
The illuminated square in the centre of the photos is a 1×1 meter plastic box filled with 300 LED lights, and is usually suspended using fishing gut. Benoit’s exposures typically range from 30 seconds to four minutes.
