Following closely on the heels of the Canon EOS R6 release, Canon has released a major firmware update for their new system.

Firmware update 1.1.1 is available for those shooting on Canon’s new EOS R6 system and promises several improvements.

Most importantly the firmware update promises improvement in the total recording time on the Canon EOS R6, without providing a performance increase metric we’ll have to wait to test it out before we pass judgement.

Other fixes include improvement in the in-lens stabilisation when using specific RF lenses during recording and promise improved connectivity during FTP transmission. A few minor improvements have been included in this update and include better support with the RF 1-00-500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens as well as a few menu improvements making the Canon EOS R6 more user friendly.

The Canon EOS R6 isn’t the only one receiving an update, the Canon EOS R5 is getting one too! While this update isn’t as extensive as that for the R6, the update promises lens compatibility improvements for the RF 100 – 500mm F4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens.
