Colourful photographs created with sounds and pigmented salts, taken by Swiss photographer Fabian Oefner.

Swiss photographer Fabian Oefner‘s Dancing Colours series combines music and photography to create colourful abstract images.

While certainly not a new concept, Fabian’s execution is excellent. The vibrant photographs were created by placing pigmented salt on a plastic sheet which had been stretched over a speaker. When a sound is played, the salt shoots into the air for a fragment of a second, and a set of microphone-triggered strobes freeze the motion.

A few setup shots are included at the end of the post. For more details, read Fabian’s setup description on 500px.
