The Cape Town School of Photography and the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation are proud to be working together to enable a special group of teenagers to tell their stories visually.

The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Future Fighters have given voice to the youth in our communities. Through drama, poetry, song and dance performances, this charismatic group of young volunteers encourages their peers to know their HIV status and to learn as much as they can about the disease.

The Future Fighters have developed into educators and advocates in their communities, and leaders in HIV prevention. In addition to their advocacy on behalf of their peers, they also serve as role models in their communities. Over the years, they have enthusiastically entertained public and private crowds about staying healthy, and have planned and implemented other community awareness events such as World AIDS Day and World AIDS Vaccine Day.

The professional staff at the Cape Town School of Photography have volunteered to mentor an interactive, creative & uplifting photographic experience for the selected group that will enable them to tell their story visually. Keeping diaries and creating a body of work intended for exhibition, the Future Fighters have their last Saturday workshop tomorrow in preparation for some exhibitions. Starting at the CTSP on the 9th of December and then on to a permanent installation at the Kethuphila Youth Centre in Masiphumelele in time for their official opening by Desmond Tutu in January 2011.
