Spot the Lego sculptures in Dean West and Nathan Sawaya’s collaborative photographic project, In Pieces.
In 2009, while brainstorming ideas for a new photographic series, Dean thought about doing something with Lego, and purchased a set of the iconic bricks. However, as Dean had not really played with Lego much as a kid, he didn’t know where to start, so the box remained shut. Nevertheless, the seed had been planted, so when Dean discovered Nathan’s Lego brick sculptures, he got in touch with him and the In Pieces project was born.
In Pieces combines the Dean’s contemporary tableau style photography with Nathan’s iconic brick sculptures. The resulting images are simply amazing, especially the portrait of the women wearing the red Lego dress in front on the movie theatre:
