Meet the brand new and eagerly awaited additions to the DJI Mavic family, the new generation in DJI’s compact and foldable Mavic series.
DJI has just announced not one but two sequels to the DJI Mavic family; the Mavic 2 Pro and the Mavic 2 Zoom. Let’s take a look at these two new exciting releases…
While not much has changed in the bodies of these two new additions to the Mavic family, it’s exciting to see that DJI is placing a higher emphasis on image and video capturing and giving many drone users exactly what they’ve been asking for.
DJI Mavic 2 Pro
The most exciting feature on this just-released drone is definitely the addition of the L1D-20c Hasselblad camera. Featuring a 1-inch CMOS sensor that supports a 10-bit colour profile allows drone enthusiasts more flexibility when it comes to post-production image and video editing.
- 20 MP 1-inch CMOS Sensor
- Adjustable Aperture, f/2.8 – f/11
- 10-bit Dlog-M colour profile
- 10-bit HDR video
DJI Mavic 2 Zoom
As the name suggests, the focus of this new addition to the DJI family is on getting closer to your subject, showing that possibilities with the new DJI Mavic 2 Zoom truly endless. While the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom features a smaller 12MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor than the DJI Mavic 2 Pro, this is the first DJI Drone with a zoom function.
- 12MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor
- 48 MP Super Resolution Photo
- 4x Lossless Zoom HD Video
- Dolly Zoom
Other than the few key differences these two new additions to the DJI Mavic family are functionally the same. Which means up to 31 minute flight time at a maximum speed of 72kph, 8k 1080p video transmission, omnidirectional obstacle sensing and ActiveTrack 2.0.
DJI have also released a set of filters made specifically for the new DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom. Introducing ND 4/ 8 / 16 / 32 filters which allow, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 of incoming light through; equal to a 2 / 3 / 4 / 5-stop filter.
