Nikon D850 DSLR Camera Announced

Just hours ago Nikon announced their brand new full frame DSLR, the D850. With an impressive 45.7 megapixels of resolution for stills, 4K UHD video and an ISO range of 64-25600, this camera is said to be a monster that brings together robust stills capabilities along with apt movie and time-lapse recording.

You can choose between 3 different RAW sizes; 45.4 megapixels, 25.6 megapixels and 11.4 megapixels shots, and in-camera batch convert your photos with the RAW processor. In addition to the large files the camera has to process, it’s still capable of shooting at 7fps. Faster even if you invest in the optional MB-D18 battery pack, allowing you to shoot full resolution up to 9fps. The D850 also introduces a focus shift photography function, making it possible to shoot a sequence of up to 300 frames, while gradually and automatically shifting focus position from the start point to infinity.

Benefitting the imaging capabilities is an advanced Multi-CAM 20K 153-point AF system, which debuted with the flagship D5 and offers 99 cross-type sensors for refined focusing accuracy in a variety of lighting conditions. Autofocus down to -4 EV lets you capture in low-light situations. Suddenly, fast NIKKOR primes and zooms can handle even lower light than before.

Checking off a number of boxes for multimedia image-makers, the D850 positions itself as not only a high-resolution DSLR but also as a camera for speed, movies, and low-light shooting needs. It’s advanced video features include auto ISO that handles smooth lighting transitions from ISO 64 to the sensitivity of your choice (all the way up to Hi-2). Enjoy simultaneous external and internal recording, Flat Picture Control, highlight weighted metering, two selectable Zebra Stripes patterns, electronic VR (Full HD), a built-in stereo microphone with 20-step increment and attenuator adjustments and so much more.

Create entire 4K UHD time-lapse sequences right in the camera—an exclusive to Nikon DSLRs. Use Silent Live View Mode to bypass the mechanical shutter and mirror movement, saving thousands of shutter cycles and improving the D850’s battery performance. You can also render 8K time-lapse movies by shooting sequences of up to 9,999 full-size stills, again using Silent Live View Mode. Using the D850’s Interval Timer Mode allows you to capture over 8K-size images with exquisite detail for time-lapse movie creation. And with no shutter vibration, your sequences will be tack-sharp.
