A face you’ll be well familiar with if you’ve ever visited Orms Cape Town, but let’s get to know him a little bit better…

Hi Henry! Please tell us a little about yourself?

Not much to tell but will draw the curtain just a little…

I was born in the 60’s the youngest of 7 siblings.

Tell us a bit more about what you do here at Orms and what is it you enjoy about it?

I started at Orms as a printer but were moved to counter sales after a while.

That is where I currently work assisting clients to the best of my human ability because that is what I love most; to see clients leave our store happy and knowing they will be back. My favorite line to first time Orms clients is “your first time is definitely not going to be your last time”.

Who or what got you interested in photography?

I started working at photo lab quite some time ago when digital was still non-existent.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

Always take pride in your work.

Name one thing you simply can’t do without.

The air that I breathe every day.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

There are so many that I can’t single out any, but it is about the One who sustains me.

Film or digital? And why?

Film, of course, gives you the depth that I feel digital can’t do… I can’t justify the amount of time people spend on editing in post-production.

Something you’ve learned in the last week?

I believe, always keep yourself open to learning, learn about products you normally don’t deal with every day. Good working and learning experience was Perspex with wall mounts.

If you could choose anyone as your mentor, who would that be?

No one in particular I could think of but if you’re standard is of such nature

You could be a mentor to yourself.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

I have no desire meeting anyone dead or alive, except for the ONE who’s given me eternal life.

What was the first thing you bought with your own money?

Obviously a lot of things over time but my motor car stands out.
