Orms Staff Interview: Meet Jacqui van Staden, one of your fabulous and very talented consultants at Orms Print Room & Framing.

As we continue our quest to help you meet everyone here at Orms, we chat with one of our uber talented print consultants – Jacqui van Staden! If you are a regular at Orms Print Room & Framing, you’ve probably met this young lady at some point. If you haven’t met her yet, don’t worry – we’ve peppered her with a few important questions to help you get to know her a little better…

Hello Jacqui! Please tell us a little about yourself?

Well, I’m an ex Joburger living in Cape Town for almost three years now – loving Cape Town, hating the wind :p

Tell us a bit more about what you do here at Orms and what is it you enjoy about it?

I am a Print Consultant at Orms Print Room. The job has allowed me to extend my knowledge beyond the camera, into the presentation of imagery. Being artistic, I have loved learning more about print and framing solutions that will best suited to the job at hand. The best thing for me is getting a challenging job, and finding a creative solution that goes beyond the initial expectation.

If you had to change your name, what would you change it to?

I was named after my grandmother’s friend who she worked with in the second world war. I’m proud of my name!

Name one thing you simply can’t do without?

It will have to be a Moleskin sketchbook and a pen. I have travelled for six years and always had one in my bag, still always do!

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Adele – “Hello”… because it irritates my boyfriend.

Chore you absolutely hate doing?

Laundry. Washing, hanging, packing, ironing… its all sinful.

Introvert or extrovert?

Depends on how many glasses of wine I have had. After two glasses, I’m definitely an extrovert.

If you were reincarnated as an animal/drink/ice cream flavour (or whatever), what would it be?

I would come back as my own cat, life of leisure! King of the house! Owner of humans!

If you had to work on only one project for the next year, what would it be?

I would work on my collection of portraits, I’ve photographed hundreds of people over the years.

What are you reading at the moment?

Nothing currently, I have too many illustrations and photo projects. I am constantly researching things though, so I read factual things online all the time. Just today I researched top influential cameras that changed the photographic industry – did you know that the canon EOS 300D was one of the first models that moved the sales of DLSR into the mass market, marking a turning point in the photographic game.

Something you’ve learned in the last week?

There are only a handful of facial features that make up a persons face, so the chances that you have a doppelgänger is really high! True story, check out www.twinstrangers.net

If you had to throw a costume party, what would the theme be?

Definitely a rockstar party. I would go as Flavour Flav, he always looks like he’s going to a dress up party!

If an autobiography was written about your life, what would it be called?

“Art in life, art is life.”
