See how Orms Print Room & Framing helped a client modernise and freshen up a selection of original oil paintings for her Cape Town apartment.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve often found myself unsure what to do with the older pieces of art in my house. I usually feel this way about something I bought years ago, simply loved, but now I struggle to make it work in the space. Our style and taste (thankfully) evolve and with that our decor. That said, often it’s not the art itself, but the frame that needs to go.

A great example of this came to us at the Orms Print Room & Framing a couple of weeks go. Ida Albino wanted to modernise and freshen up a selection of original oil paintings for her Cape Town apartment. Rita, one of our framing consultants went to Ida’s apartment to view the space before consulting on how to revamp the artworks, as the space impacts on your framing decision. Ida wanted to display all three works down a staircase and just wasn’t sure how to achieve this. Rita had the idea to take them our of their original black frames and frame them together in one modern white box frame. The reason for this was as Rita explains; “to balance the space and for a greater impact”.
