Original Post: Canon is planning a massive worldwide event tomorrow. Of course, nothing official has been announced yet, but the rumours and theories point to it being the launch of the Canon 5D Mark III.

So, what can you expect to see tomorrow? According to the rumours, the Mark III will feature improved autofocus, video functions and low-light capability. The resolution should be somewhere around 22 megapixel, so Canon seems to be following a different strategy to Nikon and the 36 megapixel D800. Here’s everything we’ve gathered so far:

Rumoured specifications:

  • 22 Megapixel sensor
  • 61 Point autofocus system (probably from the Canon 1D X)
  • 100% Viewfinder coverage
  • 3.2″ Display
  • Dual CompactFlash / SD card slots

How much does it cost? Well, we don’t know yet. We’ll only be able to confirm South African prices after the camera has been officially announced.

Please note: These are rumours, not facts… They might be true, or they might be wrong. We might see nothing announced tomorrow… Or a completely different camera with different specifications.
