Menagerie | Elsie De Beer Weich | Solo Exhibition at Association of Arts Pretoria

Pretoria artist Elsie de Beer Weich’s etchings were created with soft-ground and dry point etching techniques and printed on Hahnemühle paper. Each artwork holds a visual tension with an ambiguous aesthetic, presenting the viewer with a metaphor for association, identification, debate or future acquisitions.
A menagerie is a collection of captive animals, frequently exotic, kept for display; or the place where such a collection is kept, a precursor to the modern zoological garden.
Elsie de Beer Weich is a professional fine artist specialising in portrait painting. She was born and raised in Carolina, Mpumalanga. She had an upbringing filled with visual communication long before she understood its full meaning.
Elsie De Beer Weich’s Menagerie exhibition takes place in the Black Box gallery of the Association of Arts Pretoria and will be opened by Avi Sooful on Friday 24 May 2019 at 19h00. The exhibition closes on Wednesday 14 June 2019.
