The ability to switch lenses on the ZV-E10 allows you to expand your expression vocabulary. Now you can choose from not only Sony’s wide lineup of top-quality glass, but also other compatible generic E-mount lenses. This functionality delivers creative expression superior to that offered by the limited field-of-view, depth-of-field, and focal range of a smartphone.
The ZV-E10’s image-making potential is powered by a 24.2-megapixel APS-C Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processing engine. This pairing provides beautiful background bokeh, full-pixel readout without pixel binning, and impressive video capabilities. The copper wiring and circuit processes also offer a wide sensitivity range and fantastic low-noise performance when shooting at higher ISO numbers.
More on the ZV-E10’s ISO range. When shooting video, it offers a wide range of sensitivities, from 100 – 32000. When shooting stills, the ISO range can be extended from 50 – 51200. The camera also boasts Area-specific Noise Reduction and Detail Reproduction Technology that greatly reduces the noise, while preserving high resolution, subject textures, and shadow details even in poor lighting conditions.
Speaking of the aforementioned potential for creating stunning videos, the ZV-E10 offers internal oversampled 4K video recording for remarkable resolution and impressive image quality. It uses XAVC as its recording format for both UHD and HD (maximum frame rate of 120 fps). When recording in 4K, you will have access to a maximum bitrate of 100Mbps; the HD maximum bitrate is 50Mbps. HLG, S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine picture profiles are also available for more advanced colour grading. To wrap up the video features, 5x slow-motion and 60x quick motion recording options are both available with in-camera preview.
The Sony ZV-E10 boasts the same tried-and-tested fast hybrid autofocus system as the ZV-1, enabling Real-Time Tracking AF, and Real-Time Eye AF for human subjects, even when shooting video. Additionally, it features 425 phase-detection AF points covering approximately 84% of the image area.
Considering its vari-angle LCD screen — a first for Sony’s APS-C range — and lightweight 343g body, it comes as no surprise that the ZV-E10 is aimed at vloggers and content creators. These image-makers will be pleased with the camera’s natural and healthy-looking skin tone reconstruction, Soft Skin Effect for video, and Sony’s original Face Priority AE algorithm that ensures faces will always remain optimally exposed when in a vlogging orientation.
Lastly, this compact machine would not be complete without a variety of audio recording options. The Sony ZV-E10 has an internal directional 3-capsule mic, as well as a Multi-Interface shoe that allows for the attachment of a shotgun mic with the mic jack, an XLR via an adaptor kit, or even a Bluetooth-based setup.
