The recent 2013 Tour de France as seen through the lens of Cape Town-based sports photographer Warren Elsom.

Cape Town-based sports photographer Warren Elsom was recently invited to document the prestigious Tour de France cycle race.

โ€œIt all started 3 years ago when I first went to see what all the hype of the Tour de France was about. I have been back ever since, and for as long as I am able to, I will return every year. However, this year had a twist in store.

As a professional sports photographer, I cover all aspects of sport, but cycling will always have a special place in my life so imagine my surprise when early one morning I got a call from Skoda explaining that they are followers of my work and would like to invite me to Le Tour with full access. No need to think about that, I was in.

There is nothing that can prepare you for the excitement, the frenzy and adrenalin of what the Tour de France gives you, it is a constant buzz of exhilaration and Euphoria in the air that I am fortunate enough to experience both on land and in the air above this moving circus we all love. Here are some images of the Tour and surroundsโ€
