Last night’s Kuyimba Afrika creative evening featured some great live music and photography. Here’s some photos of the work.

Last night we attended Monarch Mountain RecordsKuyimba Afrika – an evening of live performances by local bands LA.VI, Holiday Murray and Bateleur. The three bands travelled to Malawi in October last year to perform at The Lake of Stars festival, and the trip was documented on both stills and video by photographers Adriaan Louw, Johno Mellish, Luca Vincenzo, Callen Jefferson, James Tuft and Kenan Tatt. The highlight of the night was the one-night-only exhibition of images shot whilst on the trip and the screening of a short film.

We were approached by the organiser Luca Vincenzo to conceptualize a new hanging mechanism that was cost effective but still showcased the images in an exciting and creative way. The exhibition was an opportunity for us to put some of our creative ideas into action and we are really excited about the final result. We printed directly onto wood with various different textured backgrounds on our Océ Arizona 360 flatbed printer. These backgrounds provided the perfect canvas for a variety of images and are completely customisable. The clips allow them to be reusable and therefore are an extremely cost effective alternative to regular archival framing techniques.
