Filmit Festival - A Film Festival Hosted for Schools by a School -

Orms is proud to have been a part of this year’s Filmit Festival!

Filmit is an initiative and film festival by Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch. The competition offers mentorship from top industry professionals to young aspiring South African filmmakers.

Paul Roos Gymnasium launched the second annual Filmit Festival in March 2022 to great anticipation from learners around the country. Aspiring filmmakers have since pitched their ideas for short films, documentaries, and music videos, with the first round of finalists selected in April.

20 short films, 8 music videos, 6 documentaries, and 2 “other” creative concepts were selected to move to the next round. During the next period, learners will have access to free mentorship via the Filmit Film Festival Shop Talk Sessions. This allows for an invaluable opportunity to ask questions and engage with specialists in various photographic fields.

With a passion for education, the Filmit Film Festival has also chosen to make these talks available to all young adults with an interest in filmmaking. The public is free to view their resources on their YouTube channel. The rollout for these videos will occur on a daily basis starting Wednesday, 15 June 2022.

All final film festival projects will be handed over in September, watch this space!
