The latest Die Antwoord music video was directed by renowned South African photographer Roger Ballen.
The latest Die Antwoord music video was released yesterday, and the most surprising thing about it wasn’t shocking lyrics or controversial images, but the fact that it was directed by renowned South African photographer Roger Ballen!
Ballen, who is famous for his black & white documentary work, did a great job with the video. As B.Familiar says: “If you pause at any minute in the video, it makes for a perfect still shot.” We couldn’t agree more. Great lighting, compositions and directing.
You’ll find the video embedded below, but the (late nineties rave-remix style) music might not be to everyone’s taste, so we’d suggest you turn the volume down… Let us know what you think of Ballen’s work in the comments!

I agree that it is well shot and visually stimulating.. but definitely think its worth making note of the similarities between Spoek Mathambo’s ‘Control’ video directed by Pieter Hugo. Whilst Hugo and Ballen have a similar print style one would think that a different direction would be taken for a music video especially after having been released a few months apart.
Roger is genuis!
