Very impressive imagery of the Sun during the current solar activity cycle, taken by various NASA observation satellites.
The Sun has been in the news quite often recently for producing solar flares/coronal mass ejections aimed directly at Earth. We’re currently in the active period of the Sun’s 11-year solar cycle, and all of this activity makes for very impressive imagery as the Sun releases massive clouds of electrons, ions and atoms into space. The large sunspots responsible for the recent activity – the dark spots are many times the size of the Earth.
