The Verge has posted an excellent buyer’s guide for cameras, entitled “Everything you need to know about buying a camera.”
The Verge has posted a very, very extensive buyer’s guide for cameras, entitled “Everything you need to know about buying a camera.” The guide is so good, that we thought we’d blog about it on Orms Connect for permanence.
The guide doesn’t focus on current cameras available on the market, but instead looks at the different types of cameras available, from point-and-shoots to DSRLs and everything in between. They also take the time to explain the various aspects of photography, such as manual exposure, sensor sizes and ISO sensitivities, and why these things are important when you are looking at buying a new camera.
Some great pieces of advice include:
“Lenses are like sunscreen: All-important”
“Bigger really is better when it comes to camera sensors”
“You might prefer to pick your favourite lens system first, camera body second”
Overall, it’s one of the best camera and photography guides we’ve come across – well worth the read and bookmark.
