In pictures, the opening of Thania Petersen’s solo exhibition, Remnants.
Last week the Everard Read Gallery hosted the opening of Thania Petersen’s solo exhibition, Remnants.
We were welcomed with a vibrant installation. The entrance to the building is covered in orchids and cherry blossoms. Her work consists of photographic ‘self-portraits’, embroidery, mixed media installations and multi-sensory based performance.
Thania explores her Cape Malay heritage and identity. “My work has been a journey through our past with the hope of constructing a better future where we are whole again by taking back what was robbed from us – Our heritage, history, pride, self-worth and dignity.”
You can read the official press release here.
The exhibition runs from February 9th until March 5th, 2017.
