Oceans of Life, featuring 50 incredible photographs presented as backlit Duratrans prints, is now on show at the Iziko SA Museum.
Last night we attended the opening of the 2012 Save Our Seabirds Festival and Exhibition at the Iziko South African Museum. The exhibition, which is on display in the famous and very apt whale well, forms part of National Marine Week, which spans from 8-12 October this year.
Accompanying the exhibition, there will be a series of three exclusive marine conservation lectures, the first of which took place last night. The lectures are free, but booking is essential, so please contact BirdLife South Africa if you’d like to attend the remaining two.
The incredible photographs of bird and marine life on display are all entrants in the Oceans of Life Photographic Competition, with the grand prize consisting of a trip for two to Antarctica.
All of the works were printed on Duratrans by Orms Pro Photo Lab, allowing them to be back-lit with lightboxes. This alternative presentation makes for an unbelievable sight! If at all possible, make sure you get down to the Museum and view this exhibition – it will be on show until the 20th of November 2012.
Due to the dark location, the dynamic range between the lightboxes and the ambient light was a bit too much for the camera to resolve, but the photographs below will give you a small taste of this amazing exhibition. If you missed last year’s post, take a look.
