Orms Staff Interview: Meet Patrick Desmore, he recently joined the sales team at our Orms Cape Town store.
Some of you may have already noticed a new face at our Cape Town store. Patrick Desmore recently joined our sales team, and in order to introduce him we sat down and asked Patrick a few questions.
Patrick please tell us a little about yourself?
Well, I am a fun loving guy and a man of his word. In my spare time I enjoy a game of soccer and working on my static model aircrafts, which I have been doing since I was a young boy. I also enjoy taking photographs of my friends and family when time is available, and taking my dogs for a walk every evening to cool me down after work.
You started at Orms just a few months ago. What made you make this move?
I decided it was time to get to the Pro level in this trade and I have not been disappointed. The level of service and skills of the Orms staff is amazing, and everyone’s been very helpful in getting me to feel like part of the team.
Who or what got you interested in photography as a career?
My Uncle, he was in the trade and got me interested in taking photographs straight after I finished high school. Once I took my first couple of pictures I was hooked, I’ve never looked back. In terms of working on the counter, I enjoy serving clients and meeting so many different kinds of interesting people.
What special skills and education does a photographic sales consultant need?
A good understanding of all the photographic gear and accessories to go with it. It’s also very important to always be motivated to give clients the best service possible and to go beyond the call of duty.
If you didn’t pursue photography, what else would you have liked to do?
I studied Electrical Engineering at Oude Molen T.H.S, it was my plan to study it further – until I got hooked on photography.
What would you like your fellow employees to know about you?
Not too much, they might use it against me for fun!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Always be honest with everyone, you will be a better man for it.
What can’t you do without?
My hobbies as they keep me cool, calm and collected at all times.
And finally, what superpower would you have and why?
The ability to fly, I’ve always been fascinated by aircrafts, the heights and speeds they reach.
