Leica has a long tradition of crafting cameras that are specifically geared towards the challenging working environments of reportage and press photographers, and the Leica Q2 Reporter honours that legacy. This ultra-robust variation of the classic Q2 model delivers maximum precision and reliability in even the most adverse shooting conditions.

Leica aficionados will be familiar with the Q2’s traditional leather trim. With its ability to tackle rough-and-tough shooting environments in mind, the Leica Q2 Reporter is equipped with a rugged body armour constructed from Kevlar, the same synthetic material widely used in the production of high-grade protective clothing. This update perfect complements the camera’s matte-green finish. This paint is both scratch and abrasion resistant, resulting in an exterior that is both hard-wearing and discreet.
Characterised by a distinctive yet subtle weave pattern, the Kevlar trim guards the camera body against mechanical, chemical and thermal hazards. The fabric is initially near black, but will gradually change tone to match the camera’s paint finish as it is exposed to natural UV rays. The Kevlar fibres are designed to grow with the photographer handling the camera, becoming more raised over time and thus improving their grip on the body.
Overall, the Leica Q2 Reporter’s overall design illustrates the strong emphasis that has been placed on maintaining an unobtrusive appearance. The legendary and recognisable red Leica logo has been omitted from the front to make the camera less noticeable. Additionally, the engravings and operating elements are subtly inlaid, meaning that neither their function, nor the camera’s true value, are immediately apparent to onlookers.
