Meet Shalane Polley, Head of Imposition & QC here at Orms Print Room & Framing. You’ve probably been in contact with her via email but let’s get to know her a little more as we continue on our mission to introduce you to our huge Orms family.
Hi Shalane! Please tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a very meticulous person about any and everything important to me, sometimes even to my own detriment!
Tell us a bit more about what you do here at Orms and what is it you enjoy about it?
I process the orders and set up the files for printing for all Create & Print orders that are handed in at Print Room & Framing and make sure that the information on paper gets translated into a final product. I’m also Head of Imposition & QC. All HD Photobook orders are processed, sent to print and checked by me.
I thrive on my daily routine & mostly knowing what my day will entail.
I absolutely HATE the unknown!
Working with pictures all day you must have some kind of interest in photography, who or what sparked this interest for you?
I’ve always been more of a visual person as opposed to associating with anything numerical. As photography makes memories tangible, it just made sense!

If you had to work on only one project for the next year, what would it be?
I would love to be able to start & complete a photobook on my trips to Vietnam in 2012 and Thailand in 2015. The way I want it to be compiled will result in it being quite custom made, which requires some extensive research and time.
Something you’ve learned in the last week?
Not so sure if I’ve learned anything new, but I’ve definitely rediscovered my love for reading after not having read a book for the past 6 months!
If you had to throw a costume party, what would the theme be?
For some reason, I’ve always wanted to have an “Alice in Wonderland” costume party. I think it would be pretty whimsical.
If you could choose anyone as your mentor, who would that be?
Salvador Dali. I’ve always been fascinated with surrealism but have never had the opportunity to understand it.
If an autobiography was written about your life, what would it be called?
The comeback is always stronger than the setback.
What is one of your favourite quotes?
