Capetonian director Genevieve Akal has created a music video for the international band, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have released a new music video for their track Mayla, created by South African director Genevieve Akal.
The band, well known for their hit track and video, Home, recently invited filmmakers from around the globe to create music videos for any track from their new album, Here. Genevieve’s video was subsequently selected as one of three submissions to be used as official music videos.

The footage had actually been shot previously, but Genevieve could not find suitable music and shelved the project until she heard Mayla. One of the goals of the original video was to show “hope in the midst of suffering,” which combined with the track, it has successfully achieved.
