When photography and technology come together, can you tell what’s real and what isn’t?
Sometimes it’s good to push yourself and simply think outside the box. “Meshology” is a collaboration between photographer Dimitri Daniloff and CG artist Sven Hauth, who did exactly that. Dimitri is Paris-based, he studied mathematics and science originally. But ventured into the world of photography after receiving a camera as a gift at the age of 26. As Dimitri’s Behance profile states, “While his work is often inspired by fantasy, he goes to great lengths to accomplish as much in camera as possible, minimising dependence on post production effects. He relishes the opportunity to work with raw ideas and shape them piece by piece into reality.” Sven, is a German digital artist who mostly works with C4D, Vray and in After Effects.
The two got together in order to create “Meshology” as a personal project. When asked about the project they state, “In this series, CG webs wrap around the human form to create surreal, acrobatic moments of entanglement. It is part of Dimitri’s fascination with incorporating technology in his photographs of human subjects and testing their perceived physical boundaries. He challenges his viewer to consider what is real, and what is possible.”
It continues by saying, “As part of his work capturing teen culture around the world, he invited Sven to weave virtual hanging nets to trap the young trickers in their futuristic oases. The original images were taken during various Tricking sessions on the beaches of Spain with the Asociación de tricking Vila Real, where youths combine elements of parkour, dance, and gymnastics and contort their bodies in mid-air.”
