Gallery of photographs taken by Chinese performance artist Li Wei making use of brilliant in-camera techniques.
Many of you may have stumbled across some of Chinese artist Li Wei‘s photography on the web or in forwarded emails (such as the image of the Jeep below), and thought: “That’s some impressive Photoshopping“. The fact is, the post production is actually terrible – as in, there isn’t any. All of Li Wei’s photographs make use of suspension, acrobatics, mirrors and props to defy gravity and create the effect that the image has been manipulated.
With the current trend in photography definitely leaning towards post production to enhance an image, if not to downright save a ruined shot, it’s refreshing to see an artist combine performance and photography to create interesting shots in-camera. Sure, the effect could have been created using photo manipulation, but we’re guessing the final image is only part of the reason Li Wei is doing these projects. Below are some of his images, visit his online gallery for more.
