Orms Staff Interview: Meet the new sales consultant at our Cape Town store, Jason Stubbs.
Some of you may have already noticed a new face at our Cape Town store. Jason Stubbs recently joined our sales team, and in order to introduce him we sat down and asked him some questions.
Who is Jason in five words?
Adventurous, hard-working, eager to learn, loves to explore, dedicated.
You started at Orms about two months ago. What made you make this move?
Well, honestly speaking, I always wanted to join the group as this was the place to be in terms of the industry, and it’s always changing with the times, which I loved. Unfortunately, the company that I been employed at shut down and fortunately I had multiple opportunities but decided to join Orms.
Who or what got you interested in photography as a career?
I always enjoyed it as a kid and remember using my dad’s 110 film camera – yes, way back – and at the same time I love giving people advice on technology.
What special skills and education does a photographic sales consultant need?
I think if you own a camera and enjoy it as a hobby, you could easily give people advice on which route to take. Of course an advantage is to do a course on photography. Fortunately for me I had the privilege of working in a studio as well as a dark room, learning developing and printing techniques for about six months. To be able to become a photographic consultant, one must have a passion for photography and other art-forms. Of course, it would be advantageous to further your studies in art.
If you didn’t pursue photography, what else would you have liked to do?
I also enjoy graphic design, but unfortunately did not complete my studies. Maybe a rally driver! On a serious note, I think I would have been a computer programmer.
What would you like your fellow employees to know about you?
I would like to think I am easy to get along with, and that they can share their sales with me!
Where do you want to be in 5 years?
God willing, I’d like to own a business.
