Cape Town-based photographer Gregor Röhrig held the opening night of his month long exhibition, Tension, at The Lovell Gallery in Woodstock last night.
Röhrig explored Cape Town’s urban environment to explore the tension between immovable man-made structures and our emotional response to them. Shot in miserable weather conditions, Röhrig was interested to see how he would relate to his urban surroundings feeling wet, cold and isolated. His images steer us into a journey that prompts us ask what our urban environment reflects in us – or what we see of ourselves in our urban surroundings.
All works are printed on anodised brushed aluminium using archival ink. The exhibition runs until the 12 April 2013 at The Lovell Gallery, 139 Albert Road, Woodstock.
