After months of rumours, we’re excited to finally confirm the release of Canon’s smallest and most lightweight DSLR to date, meet the Canon EOS 250D!
For months there have been rumours flying around the online photographic community hinting at Canon’s upcoming new DSLR and today Canon made it official with the announcement of their latest Canon EOS 250D. Echoing its predecessor the EOS M50 and EOS R in offering a 24.1 MP APS-C sensor but with the updated partnership of Canon’s latest DIGIC 8 processor giving this new release a sensitivity range of ISO 100 – 25,600.
Another exciting feature is the option to shoot 4K video recording to 24p, which is a first for an EOS DSLR at this level. Featuring a microphone port without the addition of a headphone jack, this new light-weight device will have you shooting breath-takingly cinematic video in no time at all. The additional extras of burst shooting at a rate of 5fps and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth means seamless transfer of your content and remote control access from your smartphone or tablet.
The Canon EOS 250D offers a 9-point AF system and the debut feature Spot AF Mode which can be used to help focus on a precise area within a subject. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF has the option to be used while in live view as well as for Full HD video recording. There’s also the new option to make use of Eye Detection AF while in live mode to ensure your subject’s eyes are sharp and in focus.
This new EOS features the same 3 inch, vari-angle 1.04 million-dot resolution LCD as users of its predecessor, the EOS 200D, will be familiar with but with an updated optical viewfinder that covers up to 95% of the scene.
Other updated features include 4K time-lapse shooting mode, combined with the new Smooth Skin option and Digital Lens Optimizer. The battery life on this new EOS is rather disappointing at 1,070 shots per charge but allows you a good chunk of shooting time none the less.
