Launched simultaneously with the Canon EOS R7, the R10 is one of Canon’s new APS-C format mirrorless cameras. Aided by the Digic X processor, the R10 can capture continuous bursts of RAW, JPEG or HEIF images at a maximum shooting rate of 23fps with the electronic shutter and 15fps with the mechanical shutter. This means that whether you’re at a foot-stomping festival or adrenaline-pumping sports event, you’ll be able to capture non-stop action. For creators utilising slow-motion playback, 120p recording is available at Full HD resolution. Thanks to the Digic X processor, the R10’s fast readout rate and processing power offer you excellent autofocus performance. The R10 also allows you to record feature-length films, with a maximum video-recording duration of 2 hours.
The R10 has a Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, a sensor-based, phase-detection autofocus system that provides smooth, high-performing focus tracking. Created with deep learning AI, your R10 can recognise various subjects and objects, diligently tracking them as they move. When photographing people, the camera is trained to track the eyes; if these aren’t visible, the focus is then placed on the head, with the body next in line.
Ergonomics and Design
The R10 is a powerful yet compact piece of equipment. It can pleasantly fit in one’s hand while offering a sizeable grip for a comfortable shooting experience. Designed for the photographer migrating from their smartphone, this migration will prove effortless thanks to its size. The R10 features an eight-way autofocus joystick and a bright 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder for high-resolution viewing. The camera’s single SD memory card slot is rated for UHS-II card speeds to support 4K video recording and high-speed continuous shooting.
