Blackmagic has introduced the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, which shoots 6K Super35 video and comes complete with an EF lens mount.
Users of Blackmagic’s previous Pocket Cinema Camera 4K rejoice, the new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is bursting with the updates and new features you’ve been asking for. We know you’re here to discover all of the new features included in Black Magic’s new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K, so let’s jump right on in.
First on the list of new features has got to be the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K’s new 23.10 x 12.99mm Super35 sensor with Dual Native ISO. This new sensor offers 13 stops of dynamic range, 6144 x 3456-pixel resolution and a higher frame rate than in the previous Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.
Another exciting new feature of the Pocket Cinema Camera 6K is the updated EF mount, extending your lens options beyond the limit previously set. This new mount features full electronics allowing Canon’s EF lenses to communicate with the camera giving you superb focus and aperture control as well as the helpful addition of Canon’s Image Stabilisation support.
The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K gives you options when it comes to recordings; choose to capture in 10-bit Apple ProRes files up to 4K or 12-bit Blackmagic RAW in all formats up to 6K. The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K also features both CFast and SD UHS-II slots as well as a USB-C port for backing up to external media.
The updated body is made from lightweight carbon fibre polycarbonate composite and features a handy multifunctional handgrip complete with easy-to-reach controls. The Pocket Cinema Camera 6K features the familiar 5-inch LCD touchscreen with both 4K and 6K resolutions giving you control over your creativity.
