See, as Peter rightly states, a macro lens is far more than simply shooting your typical macro photography. Sure, it represents the opportunity to show the beauty of the tiny world of insects and flowers, where the smallest details can become a surreal landscape. But while macro lenses may have the word “macro” in them, they tend to have moderately wide apertures, moderately long focal lengths and are spectacularly sharp – meaning they can be used for so much more.
