We join award-winning Marine Conservation Photographer, Jean Tresfon on a day out to Duiker Island and find out more about his photography, equipment and more.

Our OrmsTV team recently had the opportunity to spend some time with Jean Tresfon, a Marine Conservation Photographer based in Cape Town. Jean was named the Getaway Gallery Photographer of the Year in 2007, had three commended images in the 2010 Fujifilm Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, won the Durban Undersea Club Photo Competition in 2012 and had a commended image in the BBC/Veolia Wildlife Photographer of the Year for 2012.

It’s Jean’s belief that the official lack of protection for many of our underwater ecosystems stems from their very inaccessibility and an β€œout of sight, out of mind” mentality. Now he hopes that his images will inspire more people to both visit and conserve these beautiful places and their inhabitants.

Watch as we visit the Cape Fur Seal colony at Duiker Island, Hout Bay while we talk about his work, equipment and more.

Like, share, and comment on the video below… let’s get the conversation started!

You can follow more of Jean’s work on Facebook, Flickr or Twitter.

Underwater Photography with Jean Tresfon

  1. I enjoyed this video very much and would love to dive in this area sometime soon. Very different from the tropical diving I have experienced and it looks wonderful.
