Canon has announced 11 new compact cameras in it’s IXUS and PowerShot lines, including the water and shockproof D20.
It’s been a busy day for Canon! After announcing three new EF lenses, Canon also released eleven new compact cameras, including some superzooms, and an updated waterproof PowerShot. We don’t have availability or pricing information yet, but here’s a rundown of the new compacts:
PowerShot D20
Successor to Canon’s first waterproof compact, the PowerShot D10, the D20 packs a 12 megapixel sensor and a stabilised 28-140mm lens for 5x zoom. It can also record Full HD video, and has a built in GPS. Waterproof to 10m and shockproof up to 1.5m drops. Available in various colours.
IXUS 510 HS
The IXUS 510 HS features WiFi connectivity for wireless sharing and a full touchscreen in a very stylish and compact body. Other features include a 10 megapixel sensor, 12x zoom and Full HD video recording. Available in black and white.
IXUS 240 HS
Like the 510, the IXUS 240 HS also has built-in WiFi for sharing. Differences include a 16 megapixel sensor and 5x zoom. Available in various colours.
PowerShot SX260 HS
The SX 260 HS has a massive 20x zoom lens, that’s 25-500mm equivalent! Behind this stabilised lens is a 12 megapixel sensor capable of shooting at 10.3 frames per second, and a built-in GPS. Available in various colours.
PowerShot SX240 HS
The SX240 HS has identical specifications and features to the SX260 HS above, minus the built-in GPS.
PowerShot A810
Powered by AA batteries, the A810 is an entry-level PowerShot featuring a 16 megapixel sensor and 5x zoom. Available in various colours.
PowerShot A1300
The A810’s bigger sister, the A1300 adds an optical viewfinder. Available in various colours.
PowerShot A2300
Making use of a lithium ion battery, the A2300 is a much more compact A-series PowerShot, more like an IXUS. Features a 16 megapixel sensor and 5x zoom. Available in various colours.
PowerShot A2400 IS
The A2400 IS adds optical image stabilisation to the A2300. Available in various colours.
PowerShot A3400 IS
The A3400 IS adds a touchscreen and better autofocus to the A2400 IS. Available in various colours.
PowerShot A4000 IS
The A4000 IS includes an 8x zoom lens over the standard A3400 IS. Available in various colours.
