These amazing cinemagraphs were created by French photographer and visual effects artist, Julien Douvier.

What is a cinemagraph you ask? It’s an animated .gif photo where most of the image remains static, while a simple motion or action is seamlessly looped, making the moment last forever. The term was possibly coined by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg, and refers to the cinematic feeling that these .gifs often evoke. The featured image above isn’t animated due to the way our site works, but you can view the original version below.
