Which 70-200mm lens should you buy? Kai from DigitalRev TV takes the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 and the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 lens on a walkabout and compares the two.
So you find yourself looking for a 70-200mm lens and here’s a fair price difference between the Canon and the Tamron, but is the difference in performance really that great?
Today Kai from DigitalRev TV takes the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD and the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L II USM out to compare the two.
If you have any questions about either 70-200mm lens, or would like a personalised recommendation, please leave a comment below and we’ll get back to you!
Interesting video. I’d like to know, however, how the two lenses compare purely in terms of sharpness. It would be great to see or do a star test on them.
Hello Auke, thank you for your comment. Kai did touch on sharpness in min 6:34, commenting that the canon has better centre and corner sharpness, although not by much. Your request has been noted however and we’ll see if we can find a sharpness test to share.
Why don’t we do an independent test of the two lenses?
Not a bad idea Auke. We’ll see what’s in the pipeline and then look into your suggestion – thanks you.
