Antonio Strafella’s Spiritual Hero is a photographic series that takes a conceptual look at contemporary icons versus traditional or religious icons.
The low-key photographs feature the heads of modern day superheroes on the figures of saints. In Antonio’s words:
“These icons have various aspects in common: saints do miracles and superheroes have superpowers, both are venerated, opening the conflict between faith and zealotry. In contrast, there are is still some differences: saints were real people, while superheroes are only imagined figures.”
