You Draw Like A Girl. Sounds like an insult to you? It is not in this instance. Au contraire!
It is the name of the latest illustration exhibition organised by Between 10 and 5, showcasing beautiful prints created by ten fantastic female South African illustrators.
The show took place at Beijing Opera, a small but lovely dim sum bar, on 4 September as part of First Thursdays. The mix of styles ranges from multi-coloured, bright drawings to funny sketches. A nice touch to the exhibition is that all the prints can be purchased at affordable prices, so you can decorate your walls with some fresh art and support local artists at the same time. Also nice is the venue with its intimate size and the opportunity to enjoy art while eating some yummy dim sums.
Between 10 and 5 will be posting details for the online sale soon, but in the meantime you can view all the works on their blog. You Draw Like A Girl featured illustrations by Miné Jonker, Anja Venter, Ello, Lady $kollie, Maaike Bakker, Jade Klara, Kirsten Sims, Karabo Moletsane, Sonia Dearling, and Nina Torr.
All works were printed by Orms Print Room & Framing.
