About The Simola Hillclimb 2024

The Simola Hillclimb is an annual motorsport event held in Knysna, South Africa, that attracts some of the world’s most skilled and daring racing drivers. The event is set on a short but challenging course that winds up Simola Hill, featuring sharp corners, steep inclines, and breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

The event attracts a wide range of competitors from various racing categories, including classic cars, modified vehicles, and supercars, battling to see who comes out on top. What makes the event so exciting is its unique type of racing, known as hill climbing. Unlike traditional circuit racing, hill climbing involves drivers competing to see who can complete a challenging uphill course in the shortest possible time.

The course is approximately 1.9 kilometres long and features a series of hairpin bends, steep inclines, and sweeping curves, making it a true test of driver skill and vehicle performance. Competitors race individually against the clock, with each driver given multiple runs to try and beat their previous best time.

Established in 2009, the Simola Hillclimb is the brainchild of local motorsport enthusiast Ian Shrosbree, who wanted to create a unique and exciting racing event that would showcase the beauty and challenge of Simola Hill.

The first competition attracted a small but enthusiastic group of competitors and spectators. Since then, the event has grown in popularity and size. The event is known for its competitive spirit, fast-paced racing, and thrilling displays of skill and bravery. It has also become a major highlight on the South African motorsports calendar, drawing thousands of visitors to Knysna each year and contributing to the town’s vibrant tourism industry.

NB

  1. The winner and their plus one will be responsible for their own transportation to and from Knysna. Transport is not covered as part of the prize.
  2. Media accreditation is not part of the package.
  3. Breakfast will be provided, as well as drinks and snacks during the event. Please note dinner is not included.
  4. The winner and their guest may choose to depart the event/Knysna at any time. However, the Sony rental gear must be returned to the representatives by Monday morning at the latest.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. The Competition is only available to residents of South Africa.
  2. The Competition runs from 20 March 2024 until midnight on 10 April 2024.
  3. To be eligible to win, all steps in the entry mechanic must be performed.
  4. Participants can enter as many times as they like.
  5. The competition is open to all individuals, as described in Point 1, except directors, members, partners, employees, agents, service providers, consultants of The Organisers, their spouses, business partners, and associates.
  6. The winner of the prize will be contacted via email after the draw. All attempts will be undertaken to contact the winner. These attempts to contact them will be made by email, phone, and any other means of contact we have available to us. If there is no response from the winner within three days of the initial contact, we will be compelled to pick a new winner. The subsequent winner will then fall into the same above criteria for contact.
  7. The winner and their guest are responsible for arranging their own transport to the 2024 Simola Hillclimb and back.
  8. Please note that media accreditation is not part of the prize.
  9. The R10 000 rental voucher applies only to Sony gear and the gear available from the Orms Rental Department.
  10. All photographic loan gear provided by Sony must be returned by Sunday evening, the 5th of May at the latest.
  11. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
